Based in Irvine, California, you’ll have the chance to perform geotechnical engineering design and analysis of foundation systems, retaining structures and slopes for transportation and water infrastructure projects for both public and private clients. Your engineering skills will be developed with design and analysis of shallow and deep foundations including piles and drilled shafts, retaining walls and support of excavation systems. You will prepare and review technical reports, data reports and baseline reports.

You should have experience on reviewing geotechnical construction submittals, and have good communication skills. Design and construction experience with deep foundations including cast-in-drilled-hole (CIDH) piles and driven piles highly preferred. You will work directly with onsite staff in processing construction submittals, assisting in responding to non-conformance reports, and performing geotechnical analysis of deep foundations. You will also be responsible for reviewing geotechnical observation documentation from geotechnical field staff and assist in scheduling and communicating with field staff. You should be available for construction site visits for observations of unexpected field issues as they arise. Flexibility to work periodically from field office in Selma, California.

You’ll also Participate in field assignments that will include observation of explorations (soil and rock borings, test pits, CPT soundings, geophysical testing); geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring; and inspection of the construction of geotechnical structures (earth retaining structures, deep foundations, dams, tunnels, and shallow foundations), as well as oversight of subsurface investigation and laboratory testing programs.

The base salary range for this position is $92,000 to $143,750. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

Here’s what you’ll need :

· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Geotechnical Engineering with 3-5 years of experience in geotechnical design

· Flexibility to travel for office and field assignments

· Strong analytical, conceptual, and organizational skills

· Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Ideally, you’ll also have:

· California PE license or ability to obtain within one year

· Previous experience in geotechnical evaluations, soil and rock classification, design analysis of foundation and ground retention systems

· Knowledge of and experience with APile, LPile, Shaft, Slide or SlopeW, GRLWeap, Bentley gINT, Bentley MicroStation, and AutoCAD
