The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.

The Cranes, Doors, Platforms, Elevators O & M Engineer will be looking to provide a "lift" to our operations.

Candidate must hold a Florida Certified Elevator Technician license with at least five years of experience in the equipment maintenance field.

Operations/Maintenance engineer will be responsible for providing engineering support to ensure department owned equipment (cranes, doors, platforms, elevators) is properly maintained and available to support Kennedy Space Center operations.

Additional job duties will require you to develop work documents (WADs) for department equipment to include maintenance job plans, operational job plans, and corrective maintenance/non-conformance job plans.

Provide troubleshooting support for equipment as required.

May require your leadership abilities to assist and lead certain team directives and goals.

Here’s what you’ll need :

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; 10 years related experience.

Must have a Certified Elevator Technician (CET)

  • Ability to delegate and set priorities for team.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • In-depth computer experience with Microsoft Office.

  • Ability to maintain and retain security clearance, if necessary.

Experience with drive systems, PLC's, computerized maintenance management systems (Solumina and Maximo) is highly desired.

Essential Functions

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to participate in presentations to the client.

  • Ability to climb launch structures, stairs and ladders for Walkdown purposes

Work Environment

  • Work will mainly be done inside, but fieldwork can be a combination of outside and inside depending on the project.

  • Working at heights and in confined spaces may be required.

Equipment and Machines

  • Computers and printers used for producing reports and schedules.

  • Variety of equipment used in performing research.

Attendance

  • Must be dependable and punctual.

  • Occasional overtime is required to meet demanding schedule.

Other Essential Functions

  • Must work well in a team environment and interface well with the client.

  • Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance, if necessary.

  • Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.
