The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.

Analyze and coordinate the ongoing logistical functions of the work group.

Responsible for the entire life cycle of a product, including acquisition, distribution, internal allocation, delivery, and final disposal of resources.

Provide oversight and guidance to employees performing the work in all areas of assigned responsibility to ensure safe performance of work occurs.

Perform administrative duties to include participation in resource planning activities, tracking equipment maintenance and performance, monitor storage space capacity, and ensure personnel training and certifications are current.

Provide personnel oversite and ensure work area safety inspections are performed, process reviews completed, and databases updated to ensure high level of customer support and readiness is maintained.

Work with other logistics departments to resolve inventory concerns, identify continuous improvement opportunities, and effectively communicate and appropriately disperse information to employees, upper management and customers as required.

Here’s what you’ll need :

Qualifications: Bachelor’s in field of specialization and at least eight years of experience.

· Support all aspects of warehouse management and operations in support of the ISS, LSP, and EGS programs.

· Provide oversight and guidance to the represented employees and support planning meetings to ensure adequate staffing is maintained across all support areas at KSC.

· Requires proficiency with Microsoft Office, PeopleSoft, GOLDesp, CribMaster, Maximo and Solumina databases.

· General knowledge of Receiving, Warehousing, Material Service Center processes and requirements.

· Prior experience managing hazardous materials for storage, transport, and waste processing is required.

· Requires use of safety equipment to perform duties.

· Requires prior experience operating equipment or holding certifications to include 2-20k Forklift, Crown Manaboard, Raymond Sideloader, Electrostatic Discharge, Working at Heights, and a valid Florida Driver's license.

Prior experience providing oversight and guidance to a represented work force is preferred.

· Demonstrates thorough knowledge of process requirements and ensures personnel compliance for assigned area of responsibility.

· Identifies personnel training deficiencies and develops remedial training plans to correct deficiencies.

· Identifies continuous improvement opportunities and participates on teams to identify and implement best solutions.

· Provides status updates on processes, equipment, and storage areas to ensure awareness across team, management, and customers as needed.

· Provides timely and accurate input to support reporting requirements.

· Performs incident investigations and works with team and safety to implement identified risk mitigation to reduce recurrence.

Consistently demonstrates knowledge of safety requirements and uses positive reinforcement techniques to keep team in compliance.

· Demonstrates thorough knowledge of process requirements and ensures personnel compliance for all Warehousing & Distribution processes and areas.

· Develops area metrics to track efficiency and health of processes.

· Conducts process reviews to ensure team compliance.

· Works across all areas to address deficiencies and implement corrective actions to avoid process delays and reduced customer support stance.

· Participates in database reviews suggesting needed updates to increase process efficiency.

· Demonstrates positive attitude and compliance with all requirements.

Consistently demonstrates appreciation of all team members by recognizing employees for superior performance.

Physical Requirements

· Will be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shooting.

· Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other associated personal protective equipment.

· Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.

· Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.

· Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.

Work Environment

· Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.

· Position may require individual to travel daily to different areas on site.

· Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand, is required to access various locations on the facility.

· Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.

· All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and company safety standards.

Equipment and Machines

· Computers and printers used for producing reports and schedules.

· Variety of equipment used in testing.

Attendance

· Full-time work hours.

· Position may require occasional overtime, including weekend work, depending on task.

· Must be dependable and punctual.

· Shift work may be required.

Other Essential Functions

· Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.

· Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.

· Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.

· Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.

· Government security clearance may be required in the future.

· Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
