We are seeking a Track Engineer to support our Rail and Transit Team in Baltimore, Maryland. This position is responsible for providing and leading design, calculations, and engineering services as necessary for transit, passenger, and freight rail projects. The individual will complete track or civil engineering tasks for local projects, including developing electronic models, plan sheets, project specifications, and performing plan, submittal, and RFI reviews.

When you join us, you’ll assist Project Managers with proposals, budgets, schedules, and other project management tasks. By joining our team, you will have the opportunity to showcase your understanding of the rail and transit industry to identify opportunities, advise and support the client in resolving their key issues. This position will provide the qualified candidate with the opportunity to work on rail-transit projects across the country and participate in Jacob’s National Rail-Transit team on project pursuits, strategy, and project management.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Civil Engineering

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of design experience in railway engineering

  • Knowledge of FRA and/or Class 1 Railroad standards and the AREMA MRE

  • Knowledge of special trackwork elements for design and procurement.

  • Project management or coordination experience

  • Proficient in Microstation and/or InRoads/InRail

  • Computer literate with MS Office (Word, Excel, Teams)

  • Experience performing duties associated with construction phase services.

  • Strong time management and attention to detail

  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with clients

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • Preparation of horizontal and vertical track alignments and associated data using Microstation or AutoCad as required.

  • Maryland Professional Engineer License (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months

  • Coordinating the development of bid documents including plans, specifications, bid items, and construction cost estimates.
